What does “REX” mean?

We started REX as passionate users of popular sharing apps, excited by the idea of giving new life to things we no longer needed. Through these apps, we’ve helped redistribute thousands of items, making them useful again. Along the way, we learned a lot about the circular economy—what works, what doesn’t, and how sharing can be made even easier. That’s why we created REX: a Resource Exchange app designed to be the fastest and simplest way for you to find the right person to give to or receive from. We want to help you become a resource hero—strengthening your community, deepening relationships, and making our planet cleaner and greener.

Who are REX's founders?

We’re a small entrepreneurial team with deep roots in the startup world—our first tech venture dates back to 1999. Back then, we pioneered the first online virtual makeover experience. Sure, it was completely different from REX, but the lessons we learned—about innovation, user experience, and building something meaningful—are very much part of what we’re creating now.

This time, our vision is bolder, and the urgency to bring it to life is greater. We’ve seen how so many apps are designed to entertain, distract, and manipulate us into buying more—often at the expense of real-world connections. We wanted to create something different. That’s why we built REX: an app designed to serve people, strengthen communities, and make sharing effortless.

How does REX make money?

We believe that sharing should be accessible to everyone, so we've made REX free for all users. Our goal is to connect as many people as possible to build thriving sharing communities. To cover the costs of running and maintaining REX, we use advertising. This allows us to keep the app free and accessible while continuing to improve and expand its features.
